KickStorm OS

Privacy policy

Version of 2 November 2026. This policy explains what personal data the KickStorm OS operating system and this website process, why, for how long, and what rights you have. It is written for users in the United Kingdom, the European Union, Switzerland and elsewhere, and follows the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).

In short

1. Who is responsible

Write to this address for any question about your data or to use your rights (section 8).

2. Bug reports from KickStorm OS

When. At the first start KickStorm OS explains bug reports and asks: “Yes, send reports”, “Not now” or “Never”. Nothing is sent before you choose “Yes”. With “Not now” the question comes again at the next start; with “Never” it does not come again. In Settings → Bug reports you can switch reports on or off at any time and see your device number.

What a report contains.

DataExample
Device number16 random characters made on your machine, e.g. 3f9a… – it does not come from your hardware and says nothing about you
Hardware profileRaspberry Pi model and memory size, number of processor cores, PiStorm model, Amiga model, screen mode
Software versionsVersion of KickStorm OS and of the installed KickStore packages
Start logThe system's technical messages from switching on until two minutes after the start
Error reportsWhen a program or the system reports an error or crashes: the technical messages just before and after it, and which package it belongs to
Crash reportAfter the system restarted itself because of a fault: the technical messages of the previous start

What a report never contains: your name or email address, your files or their contents, passwords, Wi-Fi names and keys, anything you type, the websites you visit. Lines that could contain secrets (for example the words password, passphrase, key, token, SSID or WPA) are removed on your machine before sending and again on our server.

Is it anonymous? We cannot tell who you are from a report. Because the reports of one machine share a device number, the law treats them as pseudonymous data, and this policy applies to them in full. If you tell us your device number (for example in a support request), we can find your reports – and delete them if you wish.

Why and on what legal basis. To find, understand and fix faults in KickStorm OS and its packages, for all users and all hardware. The legal basis is your consent (UK GDPR and GDPR Article 6(1)(a); PECR regulation 6 for reading information from your device). You can withdraw your consent at any time in Settings; reports sent before stay lawful, and you can ask us to delete them.

How long. Reports are deleted automatically after 180 days. Per device we keep at most 20 MB; older reports are deleted first.

How it is sent. Encrypted (HTTPS) to kickstore.amiga-evolution.com. Our server does not store your IP address with a report. To stop abuse it counts reports per sender for one day using a keyed one-way code of the address; the counters are deleted the next day.

3. Other connections KickStorm OS makes

4. This website

This website uses no cookies, no scripts, no web fonts from other servers, no analytics and no embedded content from third parties. When you visit it, our hosting provider's web server records your IP address, the time, the page requested and your browser type in its server log to run and protect the server (legitimate interest, UK GDPR and GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). These logs are kept by our hosting provider according to its log rotation and are not used for anything else.

5. Who receives data

6. Where the data is kept

All data is processed and stored in Switzerland. The United Kingdom and the European Union both recognise Switzerland as providing an adequate level of data protection, so no further safeguards are needed for the transfer.

7. Security

Reports travel encrypted (HTTPS). Report files cannot be reached from the web, and access to them is protected by a key known only to the KickStorm OS team.

8. Your rights

Write to info@amiga-evolution.com and include your device number (Settings → Bug reports), because without it we cannot find your reports. We answer within one month.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority: in the UK the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), ico.org.uk, telephone 0303 123 1113; in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), edoeb.admin.ch; in the EU the authority of your country.

9. No automated decisions

We make no decisions about you based on automated processing and create no profiles.

10. Children

KickStorm OS is not aimed at children, and bug reports contain no data that would show the age of a user.

11. Changes

We update this policy when KickStorm OS, this website or the law changes. The current version is always on this page; if a change affects bug reports, KickStorm OS asks for your consent again.
